I was supposed to blog about this event last week around Wednesday or Tuesday, but I simply didn’t get the time. We were so busy working on the client projects, that it was difficult to allocate free blogging time.
We had around 20 people attending this event at the Network Hub last Tuesday. For this session we managed to construct a simple website for an imaginary Dance and Modeling school (The Broadway School of Dance & Modeling) using the Joomla! CMS version 1.5. We also showed how Joomla! CMS could easily integrate with the other major social media services such as Flickr, YouTube, Google Calendar, and Eventbrite. The idea was to show people how to utilize the power of those great hosted solutions within their Joomla powered websites without having to do any crazy php software development.

One of the great features about the Ruby on Rails Model View Controller (MVC) architecture is the concept of generators which can quickly create the mvc layers.
The Joomla! 1.5 framework is now using an MVC by choice architectre, however the generators are still missing. Joomla! 1.5 is no-longer just a Content Management System, it is a great framework for building all kinds of web applications with a CMS edge.
My friend and business associate Arash from PeerGlobe technology has written an awesome tutorial to help you Build Joomla! MVCs the Ruby on Rails Style.

My good friend and business associate Arash from PeerGlobe Technology is organizing an awesome event about Adobe Flex, Rails, Air and the new Joomla 1.5 framework. This is supposed to be a fun get together of developers so you don’t have to be an expert in any of those to be able to enjoy the event. rmd Studio, Tazzu Community, and The Network Hub are 3 of the sponsors.
We’re going to have some really neat guest speakers such as Peter Armstrong (http://peterarmstrong.com ) which will be talking about his new book “Flexible Rails” (http://flexiblerails.com ) and Atul Nagpal who is an Adobe AIR and flex expert and will showcasing us some of his tips and tricks.
At the end Ash and I will be talking about the new Joomla 1.5 MVC framework and do a little comparison study.
When: March 19th 2008

The Vancouver Adobe AIR Workshop actually happened on last Wednesday, but I didn’t get the chance to write about it, because I was too busy organizing the Vancouver Joomla DocCamp event. I know this is bad journalism practice, but better late than never. Adobe AIR workshop was in fact organized by our associate Ash Sanieyan from the PeerGlobe Technology and rmd Studio and Tazzu were two of the sponsors in this event. This event was held at the Network Hub and about 20 developers had shown up.
